Fiesta UNITY Barcelona DanceThe Monster Ball Connection - Dec 6th, 2010Barcelona Dance Report (page 2/3)Leer en castellano In this thrird edition of the Unity Party, we had the great honour of having Lady Gaga's dancers and crew accompanied by members of the group 'Semi Precious Weapon' as our special guests. The party started off with three dance performances from groups made up of some of the most well known dancers on the Spanish urban dance scene to date, followed by a special performance by Mike Silas & Ian McKenzie, dancers from Lady Gaga's crew. Later on during the night, we also enjoyed an Old-School Hip Hop performance from our dancer and speaker Wendy Lady 'Lock' accompanied by Cuco Rodríguez and Rosco from Malaga. The performance opened up the 'Soul Train Line' inspired of the emblematic long-standing American TV program 'Soul Train'. In spite of the reduced space due to the crowd of dancers, we witnessed a fantastic moment of fervor, exchange, and connection between the crowd and the different dancers! Kisa: 'The 'Fiesta Unity', has been another sign that Barcelona Dance is becoming more and more recognized as a reference within the Barcelona dance panorama. While moving into a broader dance field, not only involving different styles, but also providing an essential reference for anybody who likes to dance. Break dance, Hip hop, Newstyle, Locking, Popping, Waacking, and House dance came together that night with different dance shows. The dancers, with their different styles, mixed with each other making this party a real dance show with respect, style, and caliber. The dance shows were brief, full of energy and precision, highlighting young dancers who were revealed as real future promises for the dance scene. When we thought the shows were over, because the DJ was playing good songs for dancing, Lady Wendy Lock appeared with her group, which encouraged the party to continue, creating a special space for a 'Soul Train' line. Everyone had their chance to show their styles and techniques to the others. The atmosphere was very good, and the party was another true celebration of dance: Well done, BARCELONA DANCE TEAM!' - BGirl & DJ KISA Wendy Lady Lock (picture right): 'We are facing a new edition of our Unity, a special edition full of magic. A meeting with national dancers (acquaintances and colleagues working in our area), as well as our international guests, Gaga's dancers crew. As a component of the Barcelona Dance team, I feel that all of you who believe in this project will help us meet our expectations and desires. We owe it to you, to improve ourselves in order to offer increasingly better and comfortable meetings, in which our goal is to bring together the diversity of dance styles. We are all ONE! We were all immersed in very good energy on the dance floor. We would also like to thank all those who attended the workshops (Mike Silas & Asiel Hardison 6/12 - Mike Silas & Ian McKenzie 8/12); and shared with us the special moments with the teachers during their classes and the open chat with them. Thanks to all who made these workshops possible. The party was simply... smashing! Our national groups who danced were at their best, making a very good impression on our guests. There were truly authentic moments (not the least of which was the 'Soul Train' line), with several dancers from all over Spain, professional dancers from TV programs & Muscials, B-boys, and even the DJ's all dancing together in a circle with the pure energy and essence that defines the Unity party. Thanks to all the participants! See you soon! - WENDY LADY LOCK COMENTS FROM MIKE SILAS & IAN MC KENZIE (picture left) Michael Silas (Gagas' Crew): 'The party was amazing and we really enjoyed the shows and the atmosphere, the message of the Unity party. I got a chance to meet dancers not only from Barcelona, but from all over Spain and what I admired is how everybody was getting on together, everybody socialised with each other, you guys danced together, there were no egos, it was all about love, dance, and music. We don't have this in Los Angeles. If you go to a dance club in L.A., dancers will come straight up with their resume. It shouldn't be like that. Confidence, YES! Cocky, NO! Seeing you all dancing at the party, it touched my heart. The way you guys behaved at this party is not common, having waackers, poppers, lockers, breakers, hip-hoppers all together, that was fantastic. In L.A. or in N.Y. they all go separate.' Ian Mc Kenzie (Gaga's Crew): 'Don't lose that! That's something that Spain has that we haven't seen anywhere else in the world. That's special!' Michael Silas: 'Keep on supporting Barcelona Dance, because what they do is just amazing!' Thank you all for your colaboration and for your great support! Special Thanks to: MENKES Shops, BOOMBAP, Club SHÔKO y a la CRUZ ROJA.
